(Private Pilot) Ground School Course

This course will cover all the information you need to pass the FAA knowledge test for your pilot license (the written exam). Ideally you'll work on the knowledge portion and flight training in parallel, but some prefer concentrating on one first. After you pass your knowledge test, you have 2 years to pass your flight test.

Classes will be every Saturday morning from 8am - noon, for 8 weeks.

After you complete the course and pass our final quiz, you will receive a logbook endorsement to take your FAA knowledge test.

This is a great way to learn in a group setting, with real hands-on activities around airplanes, taught entirely by FAA-certified flight instructors!

  • Cost for the entire 32-hour course is $300.00 per person not including books or other materials.

  • The course will be based on the Jeppesen Private Pilot Manual (PPM). We encourage people to buy that textbook since the sequence of topics will follow it, but it is not required (they are available here for sale).
Another good book is also available free online from the FAA (Pilot Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge). You may also want to purchase a flight computer, sectional, and plotter.

  • The Jeppesen Private Pilot Knowledge Test Guide (PPTG) is also recommended as a study aid for the FAA written test.
  • The information covered in the course is geared for the private pilot test, but also covers the sport or recreational pilot tests as well.
  • Former students of our classes are welcome to sit in on any future classes for no charge if they missed a class or would just like a refresher!
